Penn Station Partners Releases New Renderings of Future Redevelopment, Office Concepts at Historic Pennsylvania Station

Penn Station Partners, the Baltimore-based global development team leading the transformation and renewal of the city’s main transportation hub, today released new renderings of the coming redevelopment of historic Pennsylvania Station. The new renderings show interior open-area office space concepts on the station’s third and fourth floors, as well as an exterior view of the Station Plaza with outdoor seating. More than 30,000 square feet of office space is available for leasing through JLL, with an additional 250,000 square feet to be available in the future Lanvale building just over the tracks to the north of Penn Station.

Penn Station Partners has been working closely with Amtrak since 2017 to lead the historic preservation and state-of-the-art redevelopment of Baltimore Penn Station and the surrounding neighborhood. Originally built in 1911, the last major renovation of Penn Station was in 1984.

Through adaptive reuse, the development team will respect the historical character of Penn Station while introducing modern sensibility and style. The three currently vacant upper floors of the historic station can be designed to accommodate a single anchor tenant or multiple users. New elevators and restrooms are also part of the planned office redevelopment.

“It’s an exciting time for Penn Station, and these latest renderings perfectly encapsulate our vision for this historic building as a true mixed-use, transit-oriented hub; as much a destination for Baltimoreans as it is a gateway to our City for those who travel through here,” said Tim, Vice President, Community Development for Beatty Development Group. “As we get closer and closer to seeing this transformation unfold right before our eyes, we remain committed to realizing the full potential of this station as a true anchor for the growth of the local community and the City of Baltimore.”

The revitalized Head House office space is slated to deliver in approximately Summer 2023, with the new Lanvale commercial building construction delivering as early as 2024.

A repurposed Station Plaza will provide pedestrian-only access to the existing front doors of the station and create new open space for outdoor seating and other programming.
